Dosansowon was established in
1574.Chosun perion, four years after the
death of a great scholar named Toegye Yi
Hwang(whose portrait and Dosan academy
appear on the W1000 banknote), by his
disciples and Confucian scholars to
preserve his learning, to honer him and to

Open : Apr.-Oct. 09:00-18:00 Catch a city bus from the main street in front of the inter city bus terminal in Andong. There are 20 buses daily, but don't take the first one because the institute doesn't open until 9 am. The fare is W1000 and the journey takes about 40 minutes. These buses take you direct to the village. You can also take local bus No67 (09:00, 11:40, 13:20, 14:40, 16:40, 17:30, 18:20 .W500) but it will drop you two km before the village and from there you'll have to walk or take a taxi. Bongjongsa Bongjongsa Temple,dating from 672 A. D. has many cultural treasures including a three-story stone pagoda and famous buildings including the Kungnakchon ,the oldest wooden structure in the world , the Taeujon, the representive of early Choson buildings.It commands a beautiful view blending harmoniously with the surrounding mountains. .
