Cost

How much can you reckon on spending a day in Andong ?  Of course this depends your time. Budget travellers could get by on $30 per day, but this means going for the cheapest accommodation and doing a fair bit of self catering.Transport costs can be reduced by not doing much travelling around beyond hiking. But korea is much kinder to the visitor with a few more dollars to throw around.  It is possible to do comfortably on 40$ to 50$ a day.

Admission of most historical sites  is typically in the range of W1000 to W2000. You can get a discount if you've got a student card. Many places offer discounts for seniors as well.

Cash

US dollars are easiest to exchange at banks, but changing other major currencies ( especially Japanese yen ) should not prove problematic.

Travellers' Cheques

Apart from the benefit of safety, another advantage of travellers' cheques is that the exchange rate is more favourable than for cash.

ATMs

You'll find 24 hours cash advance machines all over Andong. But you may need local help to use them since all the instructions are in Korean only and there is no option for switching the display to english.

Electricity

Both 110V and 220V are in common use. The way to tell the difference in voltage is from the design of the electrical outlets- two flat pins is 110V and two round pins is 220V. There is no third wire for ground (earth).lp.

Health

Opinions are divided as to whether you can drink the tap water -some South Koreans do, some don't. It might be best to drink only boiled water until your body adjusts to the local microbes.lp

Self-treatment poses some risks, but Korean pahrmacists are willing to sell you all sorts of dangerous drugs over the counter wighout a prescription. Be careful about abusing over the counter drugs.-many people do, sometimes with serious consequences, Korean pharmacists know the English names of most drugs but can't pronounce them. Korean pharmacists know the English names of most drugs but can't pronounce them. However, they can generally read English well, so thry writing down what you want to avoid misunderstandings.
