There is a 30% discount on calls made from 9 pm to 8 am daily and for 24 hours on Sundays and public holidays.

 Public telephones accept either coins or pre-paid telephone cards. Coin phones accept W10 and W100 coins,   and some will also accept W50 coins. Local calls cost W50 for 3 minutes. As  time is about to run out, the receiver will make a beeping sound. The time can  be extended by adding more money. You will often find local call phones are left off the hook with a credit remaining. This is because it is not possible to get change from a W50 or W100 coin, although you can use the credit after a W50 call to make further calls as long as you don't hang up. To make another call, simply press the green button on the phone. lp.

 Pre-paid phone cards can be bought from telephone offices, banks, post offices, and various other small shops and newsstands (individual phones have  directions to the nearest shop printed on them) in denominations ranging from  W3,000 to W10,000. But you get a discount from W300 to W1000.  As with coin phones, the receiver will make a beeping sound when the card reaches a zero balance    (when you have 15 seconds remaining). You can continue the current call without interruption if you push the "Change Card" button and quickly insert a new card. When you hang up the receiver, the card will be ejected from the  slot.If you 've broken the seal on the plastic packet, take the card to any phone company office and it will be exchanged free.

International Calling
 Because of the expense of making an international call, pay phones are generally not used.   Several companies offer long-distance service, and their prices vary. Calls placed through Dacom and Onse are a half cheaper,but you can only do these from a private phone. Korea Telecom owns the public phones and their phones will not connect to Dacom. To use Korea Telecom   (the national phone company), dial 001 then the number. Dial 002 before the number to use   Dacom, and 008 first to use Onse. To place an international call through an English speaking operator dial 0077.

To make an operator assisted call, dial 0077. To get more information, dial 0074. The table  below lists the discount rates long distance providers give for local off-peak hours usage (direct  dial only).
