HIGHLIGHT 

With advance notice, you can buy train tickets (kicha pyo) from numerous travel agencies. There are four classes of trains. The fastest are called saemaul ho. Then come the limited stop mugunghwa ho. Similar, but not air-con, are the tongil ho trains. the best deal for budget travelllers. Finally there are the incredibly slow 4th class trains are pidulgi ho. but avoid this. On the two middle range  trains there are 1st and economy class seats and standing tickets.

There are no reservations as such, but you can purchase train tickets up to three months in  advance. However, the situation  is much the opposite during non working days.
